According to the Union health ministry, India’s coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cumulative tally reached 11,438,734, with the total active caseload standing at 234,406, accounting for 2.05 percent of the total infections. The country has recorded the highest number of regular cases of Covid-19 so far this year, with 28,903 new cases in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra, Kerala, and Punjab, according to the ministry, contributed 76.4 percent of the total incidents. According to the health ministry, Maharashtra, which has been experiencing an increase in coronavirus cases for the past month, was responsible for nearly 60% of the cases.
Maharashtra alone accounted for more than 61 percent of cases in the last 24 hours, with 17,864 cases, followed by Kerala with 1,970 cases and Punjab with 1,463 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.
The number of active coronavirus cases in the country has exceeded 2.34 lakh, with 28,903 cases recorded. The active cases now make up 2.05 percent of the overall caseload in the region.
Maharashtra, Kerala, and Punjab are the top three states that contribute the most to the active caseload in the country, accounting for more than 76% of the total. Maharashtra leads the pack, accounting for more than 60% of the total, according to the health ministry. However, the study also revealed that Kerala has been experiencing a downward trend for the past month.
Maharashtra’s top five districts contribute the most to the state’s active cases: Pune, Nagpur, Mumbai, Thane, and Aurangabad. Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta, Kannur, Thrissur, and Palakkad are the top five districts in Kerala. According to the numbers, Jalandhar, Hoshirapur, SAS Nagar, Patiala, and Ludhiana have the most active cases in Punjab.
States that have seen an increase in the number of cases have begun to impose restrictions in order to stem the spread. At least two Maharashtra districts have been put under lockdown, with others imposing night curfews. A few districts in Punjab and Gujarat have also instituted night curfews.
The virus is spreading in the world, as the active caseload was less than 1.50 percent two months ago, with less than 1.45 lakh active cases.
