Rajinikanth’s elder brother on Tuesday backed the Tamil superstar’s move to withdraw his decision to launch a political party.

The 77-year-old R Sathyanarayana Rao said it’s his brother’s wish and one can’t force him to change his mind.

When pointed to “lot of expectations” that people had on Rajinikanth’s planned political debut, Rao said: “We too believed that (he would launch the party)”.

He (Rajinikanth) has cited reasons for his fitness. We can’t push him, then. It is his dream (not to launch party). That’s obviously right, whatever decision he made,’ Rao told PTI.

He said he spoke on Monday with Rajinikanth to ask about his welfare.

Rajinikanth paid a visit to his brother earlier this month in Bengaluru, where he grew up.

The 70-year-old had sought his brother’s blessings, who had wished him good health and a long life.
Rao remembered that Rajinikanth spent his childhood in the town where he was born and lived there until he was 22 years of age, before moving to Chennai.

“He (Rajinikanth) has ‘gurukripa’ (the guru’s grace),’ he said.

A man of his name is he (Rajinikanth). He’s probably doing as he’s saying. He still holds his promise.’ On Tuesday, Rajinikanth declared that he would not take the political plunge and launch a party, citing his fragile health, as announced earlier.

Discharged from a hospital in Hyderabad on Sunday after being treated for spikes in blood pressure, the top actor voiced concerns regarding those who accompanied him on his future political journey experiencing “mental and economic” problems in due course.
