Delhi University has agreed to cancel the proposal for each affiliated college to add five supernumerary seats to undergraduate courses. After much debate, the decision was taken by students, teachers and a couple of colleges who said they could not go ahead with it as the last admission date is 31 December and there is little time remaining.
The decision was welcomed by college principals associated with the university. While speaking to TOI, the principal of Hindu College, Anju Srivastava, said, “It all happened in a short time and colleges need time to discuss with their governing bodies (GBs).”

Although several of the associated colleges’ principals did not accept their GBs, DU did not issue clear instructions for the process.
On 21 December, the decision to add 315 seats in 63 associated colleges as a one-time measure to allow registered students who were unable to gain admission for any cause relevant to the coronavirus pandemic was notified. At the behest of the directors and members of the executive council, which is the highest decision-making body of the varsity, the decision was made.

As stated in the notice, all the principals were asked to send a list of five candidates for further approval. However, as of now, no seats would be included for admission.

Meanwhile, on December 18, 2020, Delhi University published the second special DU Cut Off List 2020 for admissions to undergraduate colleges. The merit-based cut-off list is available on the official DU platform.
