One more individual was arrested in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) first-division assistant question paper leak case for his alleged involvement.
The arrested person was identified as Basavraj, who was working in the accounts section of KPSC, according to police officials.
“Basavraj is the roommate of Ramesh. He is involved in the case and also got the question paper,” an official told ANI on Wednesday.
Earlier on January 26, two KPSC employees were arrested by police: stenographer Sana Bedi from Belgaum district, and Ramesh Herakal from Bagalkot district, who worked as an assistant to the second division.
“Sana Bedi had access to the question papers and she leaked it to Ramesh, who further gave to accused Chandru and others,” the police said.
The first-division assistant examination was postponed by KPSC, which was scheduled to take place on 24 January after six individuals were arrested and question paper was confiscated from their possession.
Sandeep Patil, Joint Police Commissioner, (Crime) Bengaluru, previously said that 14 people had been arrested and Rs 35 lakhs in cash had been confiscated from the defendant’s possession.
“Total 14 people arrested so far, Rs 35 lakhs in cash seized,” said Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner (Crime) Police, Bengaluru, on Sunday.
