A teaser for Karan Johar’s upcoming production Ajeeb Daastaans has been released. It’s a Netflix anthology of four films made by four filmmakers: Shashank Khaitan, Raj Mehta, Neeraj Ghaywan, and Kayoze Irani.
The teaser begins with Fatima Sana Shaikh dressed as a brand new bride for her wedding ceremony night, and it shows glimpses of four different stories. It then shows glimpses of Konkona Sen Sharma, who appears to be a strong, strong-willed girl sipping tea and later punching someone in the face repeatedly. Aditi Rao Hydari is seen driving a scooty with Konkona riding shotgun in another scene.
Nushrratt Bharuccha is portrayed as a sari-clad mother of a school-aged daughter who is having fun with her. Later, she is seen being slapped by a policewoman, which was most likely done by Konkona.
Shefali Shah appears in an avatar that has never been seen before. In one of the stills, Manav Kaul is seen sitting apart from her, watching something. Jaideep Ahlawat and Abhishek Banerjee, who co-starred in Pataal Lok, are also seen in the teaser, but it’s unclear if they’re part of the same plot.
Karan shared the teaser on Twitter, writing, “It’s here… It was a joint effort, but each person’s contribution was distinct. Introducing #AjeebDaastaans, who have teamed up with four amazingly talented #DirectorsOfDharma to weave four amazing stories that are stranger than truth itself.”
