The nephew of global jihadist financer and fugitive Dawood Ibrahim died of Covid-19 after being hospitalized in a hospital in Karachi, Pakistan, for a week.
According to officials from the Mumbai Crime Department, thirty-eight-year-old Siraj Kaskar is the son of Dawood’s elder brother, Sabir Kaskar.
Sabir Kaskar initially led the gang, but was shot dead on February 12, 1981, at the behest of the Pathan gang, by gangster Manya Surve.
The struggle for dominance over the underworld of Mumbai led to the assassination, which later culminated in further bloodshed and Dawood Ibrahim’s further emergence as the gift of the underworld of Mumbai.
Mumbai Crime Branch sources said they heard from their informants that Siraj, who is Sabir’s uncle, was afflicted with Covid-19 last week and suffered from breathlessness.
He was rushed to a private hospital in Karachi where, as his health worsened, he was later placed on life support.
Though on life support for two days, Siraj’s condition further deteriorated on Wednesday morning. The heart rate of Siraj decreased, and due to the lack of oxygen prior to his death, he suffered many organ failures.
The information was transmitted by those in Karachi to his family in Mumbai. Officials from the Mumbai crime department heard about the data from their sources.
