Report by Prerna Deep:

Oxford University and AstraZeneca developed a coronavirus vaccine on Wednesday, and with this, Britain became the first country in the world to approve the corona vaccine. The vaccine is said to battle the new variant of the virus. The health ministry on this said, “The government accepted the recommendation from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to authorize the vaccine developed by Oxford University/AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 for use”.

The pandemic has already devastated the world and, as the new mutant spread, it was a serious concern. The new strain of coronavirus is grappling the world fast and, it is said to be more contagious. Thus, countries are blocking trades and communication with each other. However, approval of the vaccine can be considered as a ray of hope. The developers of the vaccine, AstraZeneca said that they are studying the impact of the new variant but expect that the vaccine will be effective against the mutant.
Researchers said that the finding of 90% efficacy for the low-dose/high-dose regime needed more assessment but did not specify which dose regime had been approved.

Pascal Soriot, Chief Operating Officer(AstraZeneca) said”. Today is an important day for millions of people in the UK who will get access to this new vaccine”. The vaccine has been shown to be effective and it will be provided at no profit to the Company.
