Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has already stated. Last month, Mr. Gadhkari confirmed Tesla’s operation commencement in India in 2021. Finally, The wait is over. The US electric car giant, Tesla made its grand entry on the lands of India. It registered its first Indian unit in the city of Bangalore, Karnataka. The world’s most valued electric carmaker has established an R&D unit in the capital city of Karnataka with the name of Tesla India Motors and Energy Pvt. Ltd.

Tesla’s board members of the Indian Unit includes David Jon Feinstein(Teslas’ global senior director), Vaibhav Taneja(Chief Accounting Officer), and Venkatrangam Sreeram( A Bengaluru based Entrepreneur). Elon Musk tweeted earlier about starting Indian operations, and Nitin Gadhkari on 21st Dec confirmed Tesla’s entry in early 2021. The discussions with the Karnataka government officials were going on since September, and Tesla has shown interest in setting up an R&D and Innovation center. Maharashtra, however, held talks with Tesla too. Gaurav Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary in the state industries Department emphasized Bengaluru as the best place for the company to open its office as Tesla has always invested in Technology.

He also mentioned Bangalore as the hub to space and aerospace technology and that makes the city most suitable for several other collaborations in terms of Research and Production. Not only that, Karnataka is the first state to implement an EV Policy. The Policy probably will generate investments of Rs.31000 crore in Electric Vehicles research, innovation, and Manufacturing. After Karnataka, Many other states brought the EV Policy.
