In connection with the Muradnagar Cremation Ground Roof Collapse accident, three persons were arrested. At least 25 people were killed, most of them attending a funeral, and as many were injured when Sunday’s roof of a shelter collapsed on a cremation ground in Uttar Pradesh’s Muradnagar.

Ghaziabad Police detained three people on Monday morning, including an engineer and a supervisor, in connection with the investigation. The municipality’s executive director, Niharika Singh, junior engineer Chandra Pal, and supervisor Ashis have been arrested by police.

Ajay Tyagi, the builder, who is another of the suspects in the case, is absconding.
Ajay Tyagi, Niharika Singh, Chandra Pal and Ashis were reported under the related parts of the IPC, including 3044, on the complaint of a deceased son at the Muradnagar Police Station (causing death by negligence).

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh expressed sorrow over the loss of lives. For the families of each person killed, he declared Rs 2 lakh as financial relief.
Meerut’s Divisional Commissioner and Additional Director General of the Police Region were also ordered by the Chief Minister to send a report on the incident.
