The 9th round of talks between the union and government, under the committee formed by the Supreme court, ended with postponing the decision till 19th January.
Even after several talks between the government and the unions, the 9th one that was held today at Vigyan Bhawan didn’t result in a conclusion either.
The government is stagnant that they won’t repeal the law, and the union is rigid towards the quash.
All-India Kisan Sabhas’ Leader Balkaran Singh Brar said made a statement after the discussions. He said- “The government is adamant it won’t repeal the laws. We have suggested that it remove the changes made to the Essential Commodities Act instead of scrapping it altogether. But the Agriculture Minister has not said anything to this.”
Now, the decision has been postponed till the next round of talks which will be held on the 19th of January, 2021.
However, the leaders of the 40 farmers’ unions said they will not appear at the meeting. The reason has been stated by them was that the appointed members of the committee were already in the favour of the Laws. They also added to have direct communication with the center and not with the “brokers.”
The government agreed with their demand for direct communication along with the committee members in it.
Various Union Leader has stated their statement after the talks.
Choudhary Harpal Singh of Bhartiya Kisan Union said- ” Prime Minister Narendra Modi should step into the matter.”
Regarding the Tractor March that they have planned, the union leaders said it will be peaceful. However, they will hold the March if Supreme Court orders.
