girl survivor

A 50-year-old woman was gang-raped and then murdered in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh in yet another horrific incident that resurrected memories of the 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape and murder.

The brutal incident occurred when, on Sunday evening, a 50-year-old survivor who worked as an Anganwadi worker went to do pooja in a temple. The incident has been reported from a village under Ughaiti policestation area of Badaun district.

The post-mortem examination states that her private parts were inserted with an iron rod.

The woman’s ribs were also fractured and her left lung also sustained injury during the attack, according to the autopsy. The report attributed the excessive bleeding and shock to the death of the woman.

Three people, including a priest, were booked by the police on a complaint from the woman’s family.
Talking to the media, the victim’s son said that three men, including a priest, a driver, dumped his mother’s body at their house at night.

The three suspects are now absconding. A senior district police officer said that they had organized four teams to nab the accused.

Police have filed a case under relevant sections including 376 (rape) of Indian Penal Code.
Quoting the family, several other sources say that even after they were informed of the incident, the police did not reach the location. Only on Monday was the body sent for post-mortem, a good 18 hours after the horrible incident.

This is similar to the Nirbhaya incident in 2012 in New Delhi in which a paramedical student was gang-raped inside a moving bus. She later recovered from her injury in a hospital.in Singapore.
