Report by Prerna Deep:
The 8th round of talk was held between Farmers and the Govt. regarding the Farmers’ demand of repeal of the Farm Laws on Friday. Despite several rounds of talks, both the parties couldn’t find a common answer to the problem. The Union Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Chaudhary already denied the interest of the protestors by stating that the Farm laws are made keeping all the Farmers interest in common and not just the Farmers of Punjab and Haryana. Mr. Chaudhary has also denied their demand for Law Repeal.
Now, after the 8th round of talk, Sonia Gandhi, The Congress Chief comes out to hold a meeting with Top officials of the Party in favor of Farmers protesting on the Delhi Borders. The agenda of the meeting is to discuss the Farmers’ agitation, as per the sources. She has scheduled the meeting virtually with the party general secretaries to sketch a strategy to back the Farmers. Congress has already declared its support for the Farmers’ agitation. Ms. Gandhi had earlier allegedly called Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government the “most egoistic.”
“Congress’s new strategy is to go aggressive against the government and will hit the ground”, -ANI report stated.
On Friday, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also mentioned a statement in favour of the Farmers Law. She said that nothing short of a repeal of the three pieces of legislation was acceptable. The Farmers Protest and the discussion on it are not taking an end and even after the eighth round of talks between the lawmakers and Union leaders, the two key issues: the repeal of the laws and a legal guarantee for minimum support price remain unsorted.
