The police, along with the Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), broke down a terror network in Jammu and Kashmir’s Awantipora, ANI news agency said. Jaish-e-banned Mohammad’s outfit network was involved in grenade lobbying incidents in the areas of Tral and Sangam, ANI quoted police officials as saying.
According to ANI, the six arrested terrorist operatives have been in contact with Pakistani handlers and have threatened security forces by lobbying security forces with grenades in the recent past, the police also said.
Police also seized incriminating items from the hands of the detained operatives, including explosive substances. Also, a case was registered.
The police arrested two people in Awantipora last month, whom they identified as Jaish-e-Mohammad-linked operatives.
The detainees were known as Wagad Tral Bilal Ahmad Chopan and Chatlam Pampore Mursaleen Bashir Sheikh.
The police said that, in addition to transporting weapons/ammunition from terrorists in the Pampore and Tral areas of Kashmir, these individuals provided logistical support and shelter.
A cross-border tunnel used by four Jaish terrorists to reach Jammu was also discovered last month by security forces before they were killed in an operation at the Ban toll plaza near Nagrota.
