As a cop was found trying to molest a woman constable on the pretext of sanctioning her departure, Jharkhand Police’s reputation suffered yet another drubbing. The case took place on Wednesday at the Ranchi Police Lines.
For the last two days, according to the woman constable, she had been struggling to get her leaves penalized.
On Wednesday, Jemadar Shatrughan Singh, the perpetrator, summoned her to his room and sought to molest her.
Other police officers, alerted by her cries for help, raced to the room and caught Jemadar Singh red-handed. He lost no time collapsing to the woman’s feet, pleading for mercy, but to no avail.
Reports also say that for his actions, the accused jemadar was also thrashed on the spot. Senior Superintendent of Police (Ranchi) Surendra Jha was further informed of the incident.
SSP Jha put Jemadar Shatrughan Singh under suspension, taking notice of the matter.
