A 30-year-old woman from Maharashtra’s Beed district, who was gang-raped in 2015, alleged that a resolution had been passed by her village panchayat to ban her and that she was being pressured by the villagers to leave the town.

A local government official said that not only her village, which is located in Gevrai tehsil, but also two neighboring villages had passed resolutions to bar her.
The police said the woman had filed a lawsuit with the villagers accusing them of using derogatory language against her and they were investigating it.

Five years ago, when she went to a farm in the village to pluck cotton, the woman was sexually assaulted.

The court sentenced four people to life imprisonment for raping her earlier this year, the police said.

The woman said a note was pasted on the door of her house as she talked to a news station, telling her to leave the village. Often, she alleges that
