Athar Hussain said his remarks were part of his political agenda hours after AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi called Ayodhya mosque “haraam” (un-Islamic), secretary of the Ayodhya Mosque Trust, Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF).

Speaking at a Bidar event on Tuesday, Owaisi said that the Ayodhya mosque was against Islamic values and said that people should not volunteer or donate for its building.
Speaking to TOI, Athar Hussain said that ‘haraam’ may not be a piece of land on this earth where namaz (prayer) is offered to Almighty Allah.

The ancestors of Owaisi never took part in the rebellion of 1857,
The Hyderabad MP comes from an area which, the Secretary of the Ayodhya Mosque Trust told TOI, has not borne the fight or felt the trauma of the First War of Independence.
He further said that it’s possible that his ancestors never took part in the 1857 revolt against the British.

Is commemorating the martyrdom of Ahmadullah Shah by naming the centre after him, ‘haraam’ too, he asked Owaisi.

‘Ayodhya mosque was against Islamic tenets’
After taking opinions from religious scholars, Owaisi said he spoke and said that even ulemas from the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) said it should not be called a masjid and it is not possible to perform prayers there.

“In response, Hussain said, “I don’t think our charity hospital will be haraam, which will cure and serve hundreds of sick and infirm free of cost.

He also said that it is part of their faith to feed the poor, adding that their community kitchen will feed 2,000 people every day.

Meanwhile, on Republic Day, the process of beginning the construction of a mosque in the village of Dhannipur in Ayodhya began.

The mosque would be larger than the mosque at Babri.
