The police said today that a woman officer posted in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh has filed a complaint against a man accusing him of raping and blackmailing her.

On Friday, acting on the complaint, the police arrested the defendant from the Shahjahanpur district of the state, Station House Officer Ram Adhar said.
On January 2, the female officer filed a complaint with the police alleging that during her coaching days, the man used to beat and harass her and even made an indecent video and clicked on pictures of her, Mr. Adhar said.

The officer alleged that the defendant used to come and torment her when she got a job at a bank in Bareilly, he said, quoting the woman’s lawsuit.
She was posted in Pratapgarh in 2017 on her appointment in the Provincial Civil Service and the female officer said the defendant used to come to the colony residence of her officers there, Mr Adhar said, adding that the man, along with his two associates, had visited her again last year on December 18, but fled when she raised an alarm.
