Former Samajwadi Party Minister Pandit Singh has requested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi be the first to take the COVID-19 vaccine in the wake of the national rollout of vaccines. Meanwhile, the first consignments of the vaccine were sent from the Serum Institute of Pune to cities around the country earlier today. The first consignment of the vaccine was also given to Delhi. Two vaccines – COVAXIN by Bharat Biotech and Covishield by the Serum Institute of India – have been approved by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).
