On Sunday, the Delhi Police released a traffic advisory to ensure smooth vehicular movement across the national capital ahead of the 75th Republic Day Parade on January 26.
In the advisory, the Delhi Police reported that the Republic Day Parade would begin at 9:50 am from Vijay Chowk along Rajpath on January 26 (Tuesday). It’s going to transfer to the National Stadium. The tableaux will also start with Vijay Chowk but will proceed to the Red Fort Ground. Traffic movement on the roads leading to the parade’s route will be restricted.
Blocked routes
From 6:00 pm on January 25 until the parade is over, no traffic will be permitted at Vijay Chowk.
Cross traffic at Rajpath intersections will not be permitted from 11 pm onwards on January 25 until the parade is over.
‘C’-Hexagon-India Gate will be closed to traffic on January 26 from 5:00 am until the tableaux cross Tilak Marg.
Traffic on Tilak Marg, Subhash Marg and BSZ Marg will not be permitted for both vehicles.
Alternative routes
Commuters are advised to take the following routes:
East-West corridor: Motorists were advised to take the Ring Road via Aurobindo Marg, AIIMS Flyover and Dhaula Kuan via Bhairon Road at Mathura Road, Lodhi Road and Vande Matram Marg. Motorists can take Chadgi Ram Akhara and Mall Road via Azadpur to go to the Ring Road-ISBT.
North-South Corridor: Commuters can take the route from Madarsa to Mandir Marg or Sheikh Mujbur Rahman Road,ast-West corridor: Motorists have been advised to take Ring Road via Bhairon Road at Road T-point via Aurobindo Marg, AIIMS Chowk, Ring Road-Dhaula Kaun Vande Matram Marg, and Shankar Road.
To travel to New Delhi Railway Station
From East Delhi: Commuters can take the route from Boulevard Road via ISBT Bridge, Rani Jhansi Flyover, DB Gupta Road and Sheela Cinema Road to enter the New Delhi Railway Station .
Commuters can cross Dhaula Kuan, Vande Matram Marg, Panchkuian Lane, Connaught Place outer circle, Bhavbhuti Marg on the side of Ajmeri Gate, and Chelmsford Road on the side of Paharganj or Minto Road from South Delhi.
To travel to Old Delhi Railway Station
Ring Lane, Ashram Chowk, Sarai Kale Khan, Ring Road, Rajghat, Chowk Yamuna Bazar, SP Mukherjee Marg, Chhatta Rail and Kauria Bridge can be used by commuters from South Delhi.
