Chandigarh has introduced a new version of booking transport with Air Taxi. The state launched India’s first Air taxi service and it was inaugurated by Manohar Lal Khattar at Chandigarh Airport. The launch flight is from Chandigarh to Hisar.
“For the first time in the country, a small aircraft in the form of an air taxi is being used for services,” said the Chief Minister at the moment.
This is the first phase of the project. In the next phase, a flight from Hisar to Dehradun will be started from 18th January, next week.
Later, in the third phase, Chandigarh to Dehradun and Hisar to Dharamsala will also be launched on 23rd January. However, prominent hill stations of India, Shimla and Kullu are also to be added to the list soon.
The service is launched under the flagship of AirTaxi India. AirTAxi India got a commuter airline permit in December. The Permit was confirmed by the co-founder of AirTaxi India, Varun Suhag in December.
The launch of the service is an initiative taken in accordance with the government’s commitment to providing air connectivity with metros to tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
The AirTaxi will have a fleet of Tecnam P2006T, a twin-engine 4-seat plane, and more than 300 routes are operationalized under the UDAN scheme
