After various turmoil in the three Farm Laws, the 9th round of talks between the govt. and the farmers’ union is going to take place today. Just a day before the discussion being held, IMF has stood up in favor of the Laws.
The new laws are a step forward towards bringing new reforms in the Agriculture sector, says International Monetary Fund(IMF).
The international body shared its view when the 9th round of talks between the union and the government is going to be held today.
“We believe the farm bills do have the potential to represent a significant step forward for agricultural reforms in India,” IMF communications director Gerry Rice told reporters in Washington on Thursday.
Explaining the benefits of the Farm Laws, Mr. Rice added, “The measures will enable farmers to directly sell their products. This will allow farmers to retain a greater share of the surplus, by reducing the role of middlemen. As a result, it will enhance efficiency and support rural growth.”
According to the latest reports, the Agriculture minister and union leaders reached Vigyan Bhawan. Before the talks, the Agriculture Minister expressed his hopes. Mr. Tomar expects a positive outcome and said the center is ready to ready to hold talks with farmers with an open mind.
The protest has entered day 51, and still, both parties are firm on their decisions. The unions demand nothing more than the repeal.
On the same, Hannah Mollah from All India Kisan Sabha said that they are not expecting much. As the previous rounds of talks with the government have failed, he expressed his disappointment.
