A 38-year-old man reportedly tried to film a 30-year-old woman in a humiliating incident when she was using an eatery’s washroom opposite Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) station in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Using footage from a CCTV camera in the city, the police named Samir Hamid Shaikh, a resident of Dharavi, as the defendant and took him into custody.
How it happened
Shaikh runs a mobile shop near the eatery, according to the police, where the woman was getting food with a colleague on Thursday. The lady went to use the bathroom about 8:30 pm. Meanwhile, after turning on the recording mode, Shaikh, who was waiting outside the toilet for his turn to use it, slid his cellphone under the lock. The woman found this and, according to a paper, raised an alarm for assistance.
Another incident
This comes almost two months after a man was booked for reportedly taking inappropriate images of his wife in Punjab’s Ludhiana by installing a spycam in the toilet and then using them to blackmail her.
The wife of the man in question told the police that she was leaving her marital home. Her husband clicked on pornographic photos of her while she was living there by illegally installing cameras in the bathroom and is now blackmailing her with those photographs. She said he intimidated her by claiming that if she declined to pay him Rs 20 lakh, he would spread the pictures on social media.
